10 X-Men Movie Moments That Totally Ruled

5. Magneto Moves The Golden Gate Bridge (X-Men: The Last Stand)

20th Century Fox20th Century FoxIt won€™t come as a surprise that this entry marks the only appearance of the notoriously mediocre third instalment of the series in this article. X-Men: The Last Stand is still disappointingly bland in comparison to both the first two films and its sequels, but it does feature another thrilling display of Magneto€™s ability. His unnecessary mistreatment of landmarks is something of a running gag in the X-Men movies, and Days of Future Past adds the RFK stadium to the list, but nothing beats Magneto€™s awe-inspiring relocation of the Golden Gate Bridge in The Last Stand. Although the CGI is arguably the showpiece, it€™s the way in which every element of this scene comes together which trumps the more modern version of landmark destruction in Days of Future Past. Magneto€™s arrival is heralded by the sudden scattering of cars on the bridge, and then by the grating sound of metal scraping, buckling and bending out of shape. Bystanders look on in horror as the bridge is ripped out of its foundations and into the air. At the centre of it all, Ian McKellen looks suitably stoic, and even takes the time to deliver a woefully written jab at Professor X with a degree of enthusiasm. Aside from that reminder that The Last Stand€™s script was incoherent at best, the scene almost seems to belong in a much better film.
