10 Most Forgettable Superhero Movies Since 2000

Regardless of whether it’s supposed to be a reboot, a reimagining or, God help us, a recalibration, this cynical, crassly commercial “product” lacks the wit and visual flair of Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man films and settles for doing everything by the numbers. Raimi showed a good eye for character, but this version feels untouched by human hands, a pod person’s idea of what a superhero movie is supposed to be.

Assembled by committee, the film takes too long to cut to the chase, and when Spider-Man first confronts The Lizard, there’s more than a touch of déjà vu to the proceedings. Did we really need another action sequence set on a bridge where the superhero rushes to the aid of a parent who screams, “Help! My kid is trapped”?

If ever a movie could’ve learned from The Incredible Hulk and ditched the origin story in favour of plot and action, it’s this one. You can see why Sony lost patience with the series: between them, this movie and its sequel made less money in the US than Raimi’s Spider-Man did in 2002.
