10 Most Gruesome Deaths From Kids' Movies

8. Snape Vs. Snake - Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part II

Watership Down

Undoubtedly the darkest film in this incomparably successful fantasy series, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2 features a multitude of tragic moments, unexpected deaths, and distressing scenes.

Although enjoyed by children and adults alike, we will consider the film a kid's movie for the purposes of this list, especially given its origins as an adaptation of a children's fantasy book.

While some deaths in this film, such as the premature demise of the well-liked Fred Weasley (James Phelps), are truly heart-breaking, others are highly satisfying, including the death of the twisted Bellatrix Lestrange (Helena Bonham Carter) at the hands of the indefatigable Molly Weasley (Julie Walters).

However, others still are deeply distressing and even gory. Severus Snape (Alan Rickman), the Hogwarts Potions professor secretly working for Albus Dumbledore (Michael Gambon), suffers an unexpectedly gruesome death.

Near the end of the film, Lord Voldemort (Ralph Fiennes) orders his snake, Nagini, to attack Snape. Nagini savagely lunges at Snape's neck, graphically and fatally injuring the wizard. Snape's injuries, however, are not immediately deadly, and he dies a relatively slow death from massive blood loss. This bloody death scene, which does stay true to the equally violent events of the book, is unexpectedly gory.
