10 Most Gruesome Deaths From Kids' Movies

7. Thomas J. Is Stung To Death By Bees - My Girl

My Girl is a sentimental coming-of-age drama starring Macaulay Culkin, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Dan Aykroyd. Most of the film focuses on the endearing friendship between Vada (Anna Chlumsky), a misunderstood eleven-year-old hypochondriac, and Thomas J. (Macaulay Culkin), her otherwise unpopular best friend.

An otherwise sweet exploration of the woes of those awkward early tweenage years, My Girl takes an infamously unexpected turn near the end of the film. As he searches in the forest for a ring that Vada has lost, Thomas J. meets a surprising, horrifying death.

Thomas J., who suffers from a number of allergies, is attacked by a large swarm of angry bees, and the boy ultimately experiences a fatal allergic reaction. Not only is Thomas J.'s death entirely unexpected, but the scene is also deeply distressing.

Many would consider death-by-bee-attack to be one of the most painful, terrifying deaths imaginable. That such a fate befalls this sweet, likeable character is truly devastating. The tragic nature of his death is made most clear in a later scene wherein Vada attends Thomas J.'s untimely funeral. Noticing that her friend is not wearing his signature glasses, Vada becomes distressed, crying out that, "He can't see without his glasses!"
