10 Most Gruesome Zombie Movie Deaths

Death sequences don't come much nastier than the headline kill of Lucio Fulci's Zombi 2. Coming early on in the movie - a desert island-set riff on (and unofficial Italian sequel to) George A. Romero's Dawn of the Dead, this movie features perhaps the most horrifying zombie movie death of all time.

Besieged by a ravenous zombie, Paola Menard (Olga Karlatos) locks herself in her cabin bedroom as the creature attacks. A mere wooden door, however, isn't enough to fend off Fulci's deceptively strong living dead. As the zombie smashes the door into splinters, it grabs Paola by the air and drags the poor woman face-first through the remains of the door. Standing between Paola Mernard and the slathering zombie's jaws: a long, jagged splinter of wood. Video nasty aficionados will be all-too familiar with what comes next. The camera doesn't budge as Paola's eyeball is impaled on the chunk of wood, popping in slow, agonising detail.
