10 Most Hated Characters In MCU History

1. Malekith

While villains are typically supposed to be in the wrong, that doesn't mean that they have to be bad characters. Thanos and Killmonger, two of the best antagonists the MCU has to offer, were genocidal, but they were compelling, and they had genuine, understandable reasons behind what they were doing, even if those actions were wrong.

Particularly early in the franchise, the MCU struggled greatly with creating these kinds of villains. Easily the worst of the bunch was Malekith, the Dark Elf and frankly poor excuse for a villain in Thor: The Dark World.

Firstly, they buried Christopher Ecclestone under a tonne of prosthetics and make-up, gave him a vague and generic motivation for destroying the world, and absolutely nothing to work with in the script department. No matter the actor playing Malekith, the character stood no choice of being a good villain if they had to bring to life this emotionless mess.

As said, he wanted to destroy the world, so fans weren't exactly supposed to root for him, but instead they hated him not for his actions, but because he was a poorly put together character as a whole. There was nothing compelling or interesting about him, and he represented everything you'd expect to see in a terrible villain.
