9. Odin

Another character played by a phenomenal actor in the Thor franchise, Odin too struggled to strike a chord with audiences. However, whereas Jane Foster was disliked because she didn't really do anything, Odin felt the wrath of the fans because of the things he did do. Despite his Allfather moniker, Odin was actually a pretty terrible father to his three children.

Starting with Thor, he cast him out of Asgard and stripped him of his powers, leaving Mjolnir so close to him that even Loki had to admit that it was cruel. Yes, Thor made a mistake, but this isn't exactly a grade A parental response.

The God of Mischief of course was essentially stolen from his home world by Odin. He was brought up in his brother's shadow, and while Thor was always in line for the throne, Loki was essentially kept around as a peacekeeping device between Asgard and the Frost Giants.

Then there is Hela, who was treated worst of all by her father. Her own brothers didn't even know of her existence until Odin died, as he banished her to Hel and pretended that she didn't exist for the next few hundred years. He even referred to Thor as his first born, not even acknowledging Hela as his daughter. Yes, she was dangerous and out of control, but there's no telling how far a little actual parenting might have gone.
