10 Most Hated Lord Of The Rings Characters

It is rare for the main protagonist of a movie franchise, particularly one as big as The Lord of the Rings, to be one of its most hated characters. However, Frodo Baggins is notorious for being irritating, often helpless and almost whiney, and undeserving of the plaudits he would receive for destroying the Ring.

Much like with Boromir and Isildur, the Ring held a certain amount of sway over Frodo. His heart and mind became corrupted, and even after everything he went through to get to the fires of Mount Doom, he wouldn't have destroyed the Ring without Gollum attacking him and biting off his finger.

The real reason why he is so hated however, is his treatment of Samwise Gamgee. Never was there a more loyal Hobbit in all of Middle-earth, he left his home and risked his life for Mr. Frodo, and would have done literally anything for him. Sam is the real hero of The Lord of the Rings, and Frodo treated him like sh*t.

He turned on Sam, he took Gollum's side every time, and when the former Sméagol framed him for eating the last food, Frodo sent him home. After EVERYTHING Sam did for Frodo, this is how he was repaid? He would have died long before reaching Mount Doom if not for Sam, yet he tried to send him back to the Shire alone.
