4. Loki & Sylvie's Romance (Loki)

With Loki, the God of Mischief was finally given the spotlight and a path away from the large shadow cast by his older, adoptive brother. The series essentially started from scratch, scrapping any and all character development that happened since 2012, and starting again at the height of his villainy.

That’s not to say he went through no development on Disney+, however some fans weren’t thrilled with much of his new direction. Namely, the fact that he fell in love with a Variant of himself and flirted with a romantic relationship.

Throughout the series, as Sylvie was a female and adamant she didn’t want to be called ‘a Loki’, it was easy to forget every now and then that she was a Variant of Loki, and the Goddess of Mischief. These moments were great, but when it popped back into your head that both Loki and Sylvie essentially fell in love with themselves, it became a bit more uncomfortable.

Both Mobius and He Who Remains took shots at their relationship, both calling it sick, twisted, and demented, and as it turns out, a lot of MCU fans agreed with them.
