10 Most Horrible Superhero Movies Since 2000

In an attempt, I guess, to go out with a bang, the final instalment of the original X-Men trilogy features more action than you can shake a stick at. The idea is all well and good, but the action comes at the expense of the character moments that made the first two movies so successful, and if you're going to lose those character moments, it's generally best to avoid going anywhere near the Dark Phoenix Saga.

Throwing in random cameos from characters who feature in the comic book series does not a faithful adaptation make, and killing off Cyclops in any version of X-Men, let alone the Dark Phoenix Saga is a no go. Say what you want about Apocalypse, but at least Cyclops had something to do in that movie.

In hindsight, I don't know what we expected. Bryan Singer abandoned the film (returning to the franchise eight years later when Matthew Vaughn fixed it for him), and was replaced by Rush Hour director Brett Ratner, who had the task of recreating one of Marvel's greatest comic book arcs. Needless to say, Ratner never went anywhere near a superhero movie again.
