It seems safe to say that 2019's Avengers: Endgame may be the most highly anticipated and hyped movie ever made, but even if that's true, it wouldn't have gotten to where it was without the first film in the franchise, which came seven years earlier.

The Avengers was one of the most hyped movies for a number of reasons, and yes, its success did lead to an increased hype and level of anticipation for its sequels. Even so, the first film was something special, and the reason for that has everything to do with the success of Marvel Studios' careful planning.

Making an Avengers movie wasn't an easy task, and it didn't get made lightly. Kevin Feige, the President of Marvel Studios, planned it out in intricate detail. He managed to release individual films showcasing most of the heroes of The Avengers' roster for years prior to attempting a team-up picture.

By the time 2012 rolled around, the hype for a movie starring the likes of Iron Man, the Incredible Hulk, Captain America, Thor, Black Widow, and Hawkeye was palpable. It started to look like it might be getting over-hyped. Fortunately, the hype was well-deserved, and The Avengers solidified superhero storytelling in Hollywood like no other film before it could have dreamed of achieving.
