10 Most INSANE Horror Movies Of 2024
8. The Coffee Table
The Coffee Table was one of 2024's most buzzed-about horror films - particularly due to the rave reviews it received on the festival circuit in 2022 and through 2023 - and yet one you should absolutely watch while knowing as little as possible, so we'll keep things vague here.
Know that the film revolves around the purchase of a coffee table and an... incident that follows, leaving a man, Jesús (David Pareja), scrambling to deal with one of the most horrifying scenarios anyone could ever imagine.
A plot summary of this savage Spanish black comedy truly doesn't do it justice. In the wrong hands, such provocative, even edgy material would come off as tacky and exploitative, but filmmaker Caye Casas has such a firm handle on the movie's tone from start to finish.
This is at once a deeply discomforting and tense film but also a darkly, blackly hilarious one, elevated by David Pareja's stunning, traumatised performance in the central role. The Coffee Table is ultimately a film that will be too upsetting and unnerving for many, but for those prepared to take the plunge, one of 2024's most brilliantly daring horrors awaits.
