10 Most INSANE Horror Movies Of 2024
5. In a Violent Nature
In a Violent Nature may be one of 2024's most divisive horror films, but it's also one of last year's most unique.
Chris Nash's slasher flick basically dares the audience to consider what a Friday the 13th-esque horror movie would be if shot like an arthouse movie from the killer's perspective. And so, In a Violent Nature focuses less on its hapless meatsacks and more on mute, masked killer Johnny (Ry Barrett), who spends a good deal of the movie just... walking around and seeking out his victims with no real urgency at all.
The Slow Cinema approach seems totally antithetical to the instant gratification appeal of the slasher genre, and yet, that only makes Nash's film that much more unforgettable.
In a Violent Nature isn't a work for all tastes, and even those who appreciate Nash's effort might not love everything about it, but from the atmospheric cinematography and sound design to some of the utterly sick kills throughout, this is a horror like no other.
