10 Most INSANE Horror Movies Of 2024
3. Terrifier 3
What even really needs to be said about the Terrifier franchise at this point?
The original film was a scuzzy microbudget effort elevated by its astonishing gore effects and David Howard Thornton's evocative performance as Art the Clown, and its success allowed Terrifier 2 to be a far more grandiose and ambitious affair.
Terrifier 3 sensibly reigns in some of its predecessor's excesses and indulgences - namely that brutal runtime - but certainly doesn't scale back the grisly mayhem.
While nothing here quite tops the infamous bedroom kill from the second film, Terrifier 3 still pulls off some brilliantly nauseating deaths, wrapped inside one of the most deranged Christmas movies of all time. Filmmaker Damien Leone also continues to expand the overall lore of the franchise in weird and wonderful ways - enough that, while not everything seems to adhere to a water-tight logic, it does lay enticing track for the franchise's future.
Considering that Terrifier 3 grossed almost $90 million worldwide against a $2 million budget, Art is clearly going to be around for a long, long time.
