10 Most Intense Moments From The Halloween Movie Franchise
8. Michael Kills Laurie - Halloween: Resurrection
2002's Halloween: Resurrection may be best (or worst, your mileage may vary) remembered for Busta Rhymes beating up on Michael Myers with kung fu, but its opening sequence is an all-timer. Whoever could have predicted that the franchise would kill off its long-serving star and scream queen icon, Jamie Lee Curtis, right at the start of the movie? Wes Craven's Scream has a lot to answer for.
Following the events of Halloween H20: 20 Years Later, Laurie Strode has been committed to the local sanitarium. Never one to let things go, Michael breaks into the institution with the intention of finishing the job. Which, to the audience's great surprise, he actually manages to succeed in. Following a brief battle - in which Laurie hesitates at a crucial moment - Michael gets the drop on his sister, fatally stabbing her and then throwing her off of a rooftop.
A shocking opening to the movie, and an even more surprising franchise exit for Jamie Lee Curtis. Not one that the character deserved, granted - and the rest of the movie is all downhill from here - but one of the franchise's most shocking moments, regardless.
