10 Most Intense Thrillers From The Last Decade
5. Argo
Ben Affleck hasn't had the most consistent of acting careers, starring in his fair share of duds alongside some pretty big blockbusters. However, when it comes to directing movies, the 47-year old has had a pretty good run behind the camera.
His best effort so far is Oscar-winning political thriller, Argo. Based on a true story about how a CIA officer used the guise of shooting a sci-fi film in Iran to rescue Americans held hostage, Affleck surprised everyone with how good this film was.
Although plenty of credit has gone to John Goodman and Alan Arkin, as both put in sensational performances, the real praise belongs to Affleck who really shone as a director in this movie. It has a very different vibe to his other films, like The Town or Gone Baby Gone, both of which have quite a slow build-up.
However, due to the severity of the problem, Argo starts quickly and never really slows down. This helps build the tension at a frantic pace for the audience, making this the most exciting and entertaining movie in his small, yet impressive filmography.
