10 Most Ironic Scenes In DCEU History
8. There Was Just One Bad Guy To Blame
As a superhero movie, Wonder Woman was fantastic, but as a World War I movie, it was even better. The horror and the fighting were captured by Patty Jenkins brilliantly, even with the ancient Amazonian from Themyscira thrown in the mix.
As with any story about such conflict, there was a real opportunity for the DCEU to make a statement, which Steve Trevor was so close to doing. In the face of Diana’s certainty that Ares was to blame for the entire war, he told her that it wasn’t as simple as that. People aren’t always good, and there is never just one person to blame.
It was a genuinely thought-provoking moment that truly made audiences stand back and appreciate that this was a strong movie with a strong message. How ironic then, that this was all undone ten minutes later.
Even in spite of Steve’s words about there not being one bad guy to blame, Diana went on to defeat the one bad guy to blame. He said that this was so much bigger than just Ares, but the moment Ares was killed, the war came to a sudden and completely unnatural stop.
