5. Superman Was Interrogated By General Swanwick

For 33 years, Kal-El was on Earth before General Zod found where he was living. Almost immediately, the Man of Steel turned himself in, was handcuffed, and taken into custody by the American government. Among the men that interrogated the man known as Clark Kent was General Swanwick.

On the face of it, Swanwick had no connection to Superman, and for a long time the title of this entry would have inspired no irony, but Zack Snyder’s Justice League changed that. In reality, the title should read ‘Superman Was Interrogated By Martian Manhunter’.

DCEU fans had their theories about General Swanwick’s character ever since 2013, but with the release of the Snyder Cut the director confirmed that he was in fact J’onn J’onnz. This makes looking back at his conversation with Kal-El in Man of Steel far more interesting.

While Kal was being accused of potentially infecting countless people with alien pathogens, Swanwick was seemingly one of the most disgusted and concerned. Yet while throwing these accusations at Kal, J’onn was doing exactly the same thing, hiding as an alien among mankind.
