2. Polka Dot Man Died The Instant He Became A Superhero

One of the most surprising aspects of James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad, aside from the fact that half the enormous cast gets slaughtered within the opening scene, was Polka Dot Man. Gunn has a talent for making obscure and unknown characters lovable, but this was incredible even for him.

Who could have possibly expected that Abner Krill would have been the heart of the entire movie? He was funny, his backstory was heart-wrenching, and his powers were simply wonderful to behold. There weren’t any other characters quite like him in the movie.

Abner’s mother, who worked at S.T.A.R. Labs, conducted experiments on her children in a desperate attempt to turn them into superheroes. It scarred Abner for life, as anywhere he looked, all he could see was his mother. She gave him an inter-dimensional virus and ruined his life.

He ended up in Belle Reve, where he was eventually able to do some good in helping to defeat Starro. However, the moment he felt compelled to declare himself a mother*cking superhero, he was cut off, killed by a falling piece of giant starfish. His whole life was ruined in the hope of him becoming a superhero, and the second he became one, it ended.
