We wouldn't have any of the MCU if it weren't for Iron Man kicking everything off back in 2008. Over the course of just two hours, we see Tony Stark metamorphize from the smart ass playboy figure he's always been to one of the the greatest superheroes ever put to screen. While the progression might happen naturally throughout the film, we were able to see the exact moment Tony became a superhero halfway through the film.

Working in his garage building the Mark III Armor, Tony is watching the news when he sees a village being overrun by the same terrorists who tortured him at the beginning of the movie. Instead of notifying Rhodey or informing any other officials, he decides to make the trek back to the wasteland and bring justice to these innocent people.

Mark III may have been just a prototype at the time, but the way that the camera was able to capture Tony's eyes in this scene is fantastic. Equally angry and determined, this is a man who is no longer afraid of his turmoil and is willing to use it as a fuel to defeat anyone in his path.

Stark may have asked Peter Parker "what's get you out of that twin bed in the morning?," but in terms of his own motivation, this one shot really is all you need.
