10 Most Jaw-Dropping Shots In MCU History
7. Black Panther - Death At Sunset
There's a long running joke amongst the MCU that the villains are somewhat disposable. Aside from the major heavy hitters like Loki or Thanos, the flimsy motivations of some of the secondary villains are certainly nothing to write home about. On the other hand, Black Panther offered us one of the greatest villain portrayals in comic book movie history in Eric Killmonger.
Throughout the film, Eric's sole motivation is to use the vibranium from Wakanda and share it with the rest of the world so those who are oppressed can fight back.
The motivation is certainly there, but T'Challa's determination to keep his country from falling into chaos comes at the expense of Killmonger's life. After being stabbed by one of his own blades, Eric starts to see the severity of the situation, allowing T'Challa to see the wounded kid he always was.
Though T'Challa eventually offers a way to heal Eric, he ultimately decides to kill himself rather than face years of imprisonment. As the final shot shows Eric falling to the ground, the sunset unfolds to reveal some of the most gorgeous colors in any of the MCU films.
Killmonger may have deserved a better fate, but this shot of the end of a life and the dawning of beauty is much more nuanced than people may have expected out of their standard superhero affair.
