7. Holiday Inn (1942)
Known primarily as the movie where Bing Crosby sings White Christmas (the best-selling song of all time), this film also contains an outstanding New Year's Eve party featuring Fred Astaire and Bing Crosby at their finest. The main setting of Holiday Inn is, strangely enough, a nightclub of sorts known as Holiday Inn. Befitting its name, the Holiday Inn is only open on holidays. The film takes us through many American holidays with Bing Crosby and Fred Astaire providing all the entertainment you can possibly need. Along the way is a good story with plenty of musical numbers, dance numbers, comedy, and touching moments. Make sure you watch this one. Most Memorable NYE Scene There are two different NYE parties in this film. Both occur at the Holiday Inn, albeit in separate years. While the film's final, happy scenes occur on the second NYE celebration, I have to go with the first NYE party as my favorite scene. I've never been a major fan of Fred Astaire, but his dance numbers in this film are magical. It doesn't hurt having Bing Crosby sing along, either.
