6. Boogie Nights (1997)
Boogie Nights, despite its dubious portrayal of the porn industry, is an outstanding film that details the rise and fall of several powerful porn industry workers over the course of several years. Starring Burt Reynolds, Mark Wahlberg, Julianne Moore, and Heather Graham; Boogie Nights gives us a pretty decent, albeit simplified, look inside the world of porn stars. Mark Wahlberg plays Dirk Diggler, a young boy with an enormous "asset" that he uses to quickly rise to adult film stardom. Eventually his easy success leads Dirk down the path to drugs and ruin. A great one to watch. Most Memorable NYE Scene I don't think there's much of a choice here. The only real New Year's Eve scene in the film (at least the only one I can remember) took place in 1979 with the entire cast of characters attending a party. Unfortunately for real-life porn star Nina Hartley, her character, wife of director Little Bill, is also in attendance. Throughout the film, Nina is constantly embarrassing her husband with her VERY public infidelity. On NYE 1979, Little Bill has had enough. He shoots both her and her lover-of-the-evening, then puts the gun in his mouth and blows out the back of his head.
