3. An Affair to Remember (1957)
Nickie Ferrante (Cary Grant) and Terry McKay (Deborah Kerr) meet aboard a transatlantic ocean trip to New York. Each of them is currently involved with someone else, yet they can't deny their feelings for each other. They set a plan to meet six months later atop the Empire State Building, but only if they've each changed their lives and are still in love with the other. On the day of their intended meeting, Terry is hit by a car and paralyzed. Nickie thinks she has rejected his love. Six months later, on Christmas Eve, the two are reunited through a series of fortunate events and their love affair begins anew. Most Memorable NYE Scene I obviously have to go with Cary Grant and Deborah Kerr sharing a New Year's Eve kiss and planning their rendezvous at the Empire State Building. It's one of the most romantic plot lines in the history of the silver screen and has been remade several times (most recently, in my opinion, with the John Cusack / Kate Beckinsale movie Serendipity), so make sure you check it out.
