10 Most Memorable Movie New Year's Eves

4. After the Thin Man (1936)

NYE - After the Thin Man 2 If you've never seen a movie in the Thin Man series, do yourself a favor and pick one up. William Powell and Myrna Loy are an on-screen marriage made in heaven and the subtle humor of these terrific movies is captivating. The series follows a definite timeline, so it's best to start with the first one and work your way through them. Based on a story by Dashiel Hammet (who wrote The Maltese Falcon), After the Thin Man is a detective story of the finest sort. You just can't go wrong with multiple murders, tons of suspects, forged checks, extortion, secret doors, grumpy old women, a loud nightclub singer, a New Year's Eve party, lots of drinking, and an appearance by James Stewart. Besides, Myrna Loy is cute as heck. Most Memorable NYE Scene I believe it's a tie between Nick and Nora's dog Asta finding out that his "wife" is cheating on him, and Nick having an after-dinner conversation with a group of old men who've all fallen asleep. Neither scene has anything to do with the plot, but they are greatly humorous in their own subtle way.
