10 Most Messed Up Deaths In The Star Wars: Sequel Trilogy
6. The Villagers Coldly Executed On Jakku - Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens
One of the most despicable and horrific acts of the entire sequel trilogy actually occurred less than ten minutes into it.
During the intense Episode VII - The Force Awakens opening sequence involving Poe Dameron trying to keep the map to Luke Skywalker out of the First Order's hands, the latter was introduced as a truly merciless foe.
After launching an attack on a small village on Jakku, one that eventually resulted in Lor San Tekka being murdered by Kylo Ren, the First Order's stormtroopers were ordered to do something quite appalling.
Ren commanded his metal-suited ally Captain Phasma to get the troopers to coldly execute each and every one of the remaining villagers who dared to oppose his forces.
It's seriously harrowing stuff.
Killing those who are firing their own blasters at you is one thing. But watching a group of defenceless, unarmed prisoners all be gunned down once Ren had already gotten his hands on Poe immediately showed the viewer that the First Order were not to be messed with.
Horrifying acts of violence early on are nothing new in a Star Wars trilogy, but this was still a particularly vicious way to kick off the latest collection of family-friendly adventures.
