10 Most Meta MCU Moments Ever

2. She-Hulk DESTROYS The Fourth Wall

The MCU reached entirely new meta heights in She-Hulk's season finale, "Whose Show Is This?," because while Jennifer Walters (Tatiana Maslany) has peeled back the fourth wall and engaged directly with the audience since the very beginning, in the final episode She-Hulk annihilated that wall entirely.

Mid-way through the episode, Walters is confused at the mayhem going on around her - namely The Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) showing up to battle both the Intelligencia and Abomination (Tim Roth) - and so does the most drastic thing possible to address her concerns.

She literally exits her own Disney+ show, knocking out the Disney+ thumbnail and climbing into the Marvel Studios: Assembled series, where she infiltrates Marvel Studios itself and confronts the writers for their chaotic writing.

She then seeks out "Kevin" - as in, Marvel Studios honcho Kevin Feige - only to find an A.I. called K.E.V.I.N. who dictates all of the MCU's storytelling decisions.

Hilariously the two have a thoroughly tongue-in-cheek back-and-forth about numerous subjects - namely the lack of sex in the franchise and the absence of the X-Men - before She-Hulk convinces K.E.V.I.N. to write a more sensible climax, including the sudden re-appearance of Jen's love interest Matt Murdock/Daredevil (Charlie Cox).

Though going more meta than the MCU has ever gone before didn't hit for all fans - some feeling it a bridge too far - it was nevertheless amusing to hear Jen voicing some of fans' biggest complaints about the series out loud. Bravo.
