10 Most Notorious Star Wars Urban Legends
3. Mark Hamill Accidentally Says Carrie Rather Than Leia
Keeping with the galaxy's favourite princess for this next notorious urban legend, it was long believed that Mark Hamill actually uttered the name of his co-star during one wonderful moment in 1977's Star Wars.
As Luke, Leia, and Han celebrate the destruction of the first Death star, folks could swear they heard Hamill scream "Carrie!" as he hugged an incoming Fisher.
However, as Hamill himself would spend the next few decades trying to make clear, that entire moment was actually dubbed over and the actor definitely didn't say "Carrie" when re-recording the line.
According to the Skywalker star from as far back as 1996 (in an AOL chat), the words that came out of his mouth here were "There she...", with Luke going to say "There she is!" as he finally found his pal/sister in the crowd.
TOTAL BS! Actually said "There she..." as in "There she is." Dialogue in that scene was dubbed. In-jokes disallowed! https://t.co/nWLmsLsgpw

Despite Hamill's '90s explanation, fans still continued to nudge the actor over whether this "Carrie!" urban legend was true or false.
The actor is still adamant that "in-jokes" were not allowed, though, and that the rumour is "TOTAL BS!", stating that George Lucas "would never have allowed me to say "Carrie" even if I wanted to as a joke, which I didn't. It makes no sense."
No matter how often this is debunked-it still comes back. The entire scene was dubbed. I said "There she..."- as in "There she (is)" when I saw her. George would never have allowed me to say "Carrie" even if I wanted to as a joke, which I didn't. It makes no sense. #FalseStory ? https://t.co/3mAwkhSJ5F

Hamill has (repeatedly) spoken, people. This apparent mistake/hidden joke is anything but.
