10 Most Overlooked Films Of This Decade

4. Goon (2011)

The idea of Stifler from American Pie as a dimwitted hockey enforcer is so dumb that many seemingly wrote off Goon without giving it a chance, and they can be forgiven for that. In theory, it should have been another bad sports comedy.

But like Seann William Scott's Doug 'The Thug' Glatt, Goon somehow exceeded all expectations. This is a comedy with real heart and no shortage of violent impact out there on the ice.

Doug has an uncanny ability to take a beating from rival players and has a temper to rival Bruce Banner's, but beneath all of that, he's a good natured guy, and his awkward romance with Alison Pill's Eva rings true.

Goon raked in just $7 million at the box office, off a budget of $12 million, but favourable reviews and a cult following proved enough to warrant a sequel, Goon: Last of the Enforcers, which wasn't nearly as enjoyable.
