10 Most Overlooked Films Of This Decade

3. Enemy (2013)

Super Movie
Pathe

There are many reasons why Jake Gyllenhaal is beyond perfect for the role of Batman and Bruce Wayne, and high on the list is his impressive dual portrayal of two protagonists in Denis Villeneuve's psychological thriller Enemy.

Gyllenhaal plays mild-mannered maths teacher Adam Bell in this existentialist mind-bender, who discovers he has a doppelganger, identical in every way bar personality.

Anthony Claire, Adam's exact double, is a bad-boy actor, direct where his carbon copy is meek, and their paths crossing kicks off a chain of events that evokes the work of everyone from Cronenberg to Lynch.

Enemy will do a number on your brain, and that's very much its intention, but regardless of whether ambiguity and surrealism are your thing, it's worth taking in for Gyllenhaal's stellar dual performance alone.
