10 Most Overrated Movies Of 2014 (So Far)
5. Joe
Rotten Tomatoes Score: 91%There is one reason to see Joe, and one reason alone: Nicolas Cage. In an age where the actor seems content to pretty much phone in each and every one of his performances for the sake of a quick pay check (tax evasion is a killer), hamming it up to insane levels and chewing the scenery like its going out of style, Joe marks one of his best ever performances as an ex-con named Random, trying to get his life back on the straight on narrow after a life of turmoil.
Joe was directed by David Gordon Green, who also makes a return to form, having started his career behind the camera on indie gems like All The Real Girls and George Washington, before lowering his standards completely to take jobs on awful comedy flicks like Your Highness and The Sitter. Though this is Greens best film in ages, its still not a total triumph indeed, without Cage at the centre of things, Joe might not have been anywhere near as interesting.
