10 Most Overrated Movies Of 2014 (So Far)

6. Veronica Mars

Rotten Tomatoes Score: 78%

All right, so Veronica Mars was made for the most part for fans of the original TV show, and yes, it was crowd-funded by those same people, but a movie is a movie, and this one couldn€™t seem to escape the feeling that it was an awkward reunion special. For people who live and breath Veronica Mars, of course, having Kristen Bell back in the saddle and reprising her most famous character must€™ve been a joyous experience€ for the rest of us, not so much.

To reiterate, then: we€™re well aware that Veronica Mars was created for people who already liked Veronica Mars. But had this been a movie free from external context and instead were a mere detective thriller starring Kristen Bell with exactly the same plot, characterisation and script, would it still have a 74% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, do you think? Uh-uh. The movie is okay, and for the uninitiated it could have been a whole lot worse, but really€ who cares?
