10 Most Overrated Movies Of 2014 (So Far)

4. About Last Night

Rotten Tomatoes Score: 69%

Yes, it€™s light-hearted and occasionally entertaining, but it€™s also - as critic Peter Bradshaw so brilliantly points out in his review - €œa date movie that could have been written by entertainment software, and quite divorced from real human beings and their experiences of sex,€ which pretty much nails each of the movie's core problems in a single sentence. This is a remake of the movie of the same name from 1986, of course, but you can barely tell such a thing.

Because this doesn€™t feel at all like David Mamet (who wrote the original play); despite holding 69% on Rotten Tomatoes, there€™s nothing here that warrants actually showering, dressing, driving into town, parking the car and buying a movie ticket to see this film in theatres. If Kevin Hart does a good job of making this - quite definitively - a Kevin Hart movie, fine, but in doing so he totally overpowers the material and squanders the reality factor. It's all a bit diminished.
