10 Most Overrated Movies Of 2014 (So Far)
4. About Last Night
Rotten Tomatoes Score: 69%Yes, its light-hearted and occasionally entertaining, but its also - as critic Peter Bradshaw so brilliantly points out in his review - a date movie that could have been written by entertainment software, and quite divorced from real human beings and their experiences of sex, which pretty much nails each of the movie's core problems in a single sentence. This is a remake of the movie of the same name from 1986, of course, but you can barely tell such a thing.
Because this doesnt feel at all like David Mamet (who wrote the original play); despite holding 69% on Rotten Tomatoes, theres nothing here that warrants actually showering, dressing, driving into town, parking the car and buying a movie ticket to see this film in theatres. If Kevin Hart does a good job of making this - quite definitively - a Kevin Hart movie, fine, but in doing so he totally overpowers the material and squanders the reality factor. It's all a bit diminished.
