10 Most Overused Lines In Movie History

6. "If I'm Not Back In X Minutes..."

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bQAcBSO5jC8 One of the most derivative lines used in action movies, it normally involves the sidekick/love interest waiting around in a car/building while the action hero goes to kick some serious ass. He'll kit up and get ready, before telling the sidekick, "If I'm not back in x minutes, get out of here/blow the place up/call the cops". The idea is to impose a time limit upon the protagonist, but it's such an overbaked cliche that we always know what happens. Inevitably, the hero will end up taking longer than the prescribed time, but the sidekick, having ever-wavering faith in him, will refuse to do as instructed, at which point the hero will often return triumphantly. For bonus points, the sidekick character might actually decide to go in and try and save the hero after the time limit, usually to end up wounded or a hostage themselves. Whatever the outcome, it's ludicrously overused and only evokes laughter rather than suspense.
