10 Most Paused MonsterVerse Moments
7. The Redacted Credits
Not so much a moment as several scenes over three movies, every frame of the opening and closing credits sequences have been paused over and over again.
Why? Well, the names of the extensive cast and crew are displayed as if part of redacted Monarch files and documents regarding Godzilla and his fellow monsters. If one pauses at the right moments though, you are able to read what is written in the files before the redacting tape covers them.
In 2014’s Godzilla, it mostly details the discovery of and attempts to destroy Godzilla back in 1954, but it was actually the reference to Bryan Cranston’s Breaking Bad character, Walter White, that caught the attention of those keeping a close eye on the credits.
The closing credits for Godzilla: King Of The Monsters, serves as one big tease for plot elements of Godzilla vs. Kong, hinting at the exploration of the Hollow Earth and telepathic communication between man and titan. There’s even a reference to Monarch building a mechanical weapon to combat kaiju, which we now know to be MechaGodzilla.
And while Godzilla vs. Kong’s opening credits don’t hint at any future instalments, they continue to help set-up the mythos surrounding the Hollow Earth and the war between Godzilla and King Kong’s species.
