10 Most Paused MonsterVerse Moments

6. Long Live King Ghidorah

Godzilla 2014
Legendary

When you settle down to watch a movie about gigantic monsters fighting each other, the minimum you expect is exciting action sequences, flawless CGI and epic shots of kaiju, the likes of which you can stick on a poster or fill out a trailer with.

And the Monsterverse is certainly not short of such beautiful moments and as a result picking just one for this list was a tricky task. Honourable mentions must go to the shots of Godzilla giving the female MUTO the ‘kiss of death’, the helicopters approaching Kong, Godzilla firing his atomic breath into the atmosphere, Mothra hatching under the waterfall, the other titans bowing before Godzilla and Kong punching Godzilla on top of an aircraft carrier.

But the winner for best shot has to go to everyone’s favourite three-headed alien dragon, King Ghidorah. Shortly after defeating Godzilla and surviving an oxygen bomb, Ghidorah takes his place as the new King of the Monsters. He spawns a new head and stands triumphantly on top of a frickin’ exploding volcano, with a cross symbolically placed in the foreground.

For all the narrative and character faults that King Of The Monsters suffers, it was full of beautiful shots that fans have paused again and again. He may not be the alpha predator, but King Ghidroah takes the cake when it comes to the best-looking shot from the MonsterVerse.
