10 Most Paused MonsterVerse Moments

4. Nuclear Godzilla

One of the biggest complaints surrounding Gareth Edward’s Godzilla film, was the lack of screen-time for the titular character. This prompted all future instalments to seriously double-down on the kaiju action, something that harmed the quality of the writing but gave audiences far more crowd-pleasing moments.

One such moment comes during the climatic fight of King Of The Monsters. After King Ghidorah gets the upper hand, Mothra sacrifices herself to save Godzilla and transfers her power to him. This leads the giant lizard to go full super-saiyan, disintegrating Ghidorah and the surrounding landscape in spectacular fashion.

But if you hit pause just as Nuclear Godzilla begins his attack, you’ll catch a small but awesome detail. When the nuclear pulses are emitted, you can see Mothra’s wings projected in the blast. In addition, her cry can be heard with every pulse. It’s a supercool moment and extremely satisfying to fans of the original Godzilla movies, where he and Mothra would often team up to take on other titans.

No wonder it has been replayed over and over again.
