Lizard was Dr. Curt Connors - an Oscorp scientist, played by Rhys Ifans, who was working on a reptile-based serum that was meant to regrow lost limbs in humans. It was a project close to his own heart, as he had lost his right arm up to his elbow many years ago. Of course, the serum didn't quite work as planned and it actually turned him into a grotesque humanoid lizard with incredible abilities. He is superhumanly strong, fast and durable, as he was able to easily out-muscle Spider-Man in close combat. Speed-wise, he was fast enough to keep up with Spider-Man and his durability was about the same as the Webbed Wonder's - however, any damage he did take was quickly healed by a regenerative healing factor. He also had extremely sharp claws that, in conjunction with his strength, enable him to tear through even metallic surfaces. His superhuman senses enabled him to see further and smell and hear more keenly than humans.
