10 Most Powerful (Fictional) Women Of 2015

4. Daenerys Targaryen

Furiosa Mad Max Fury Road
HBO

While almost all of the major female characters, from Arya and Catelyn Stark to Cersei Lannister, are strong candidates for this list, Daenerys beats them mainly because of her fierce independence, strength and resolve the character has shown almost since her first appearance.

Starting off as little more than a pawn in the political machinations of her brother, Daenerys quickly grew into her own first as the wife of Khal Drogo, then as the leader of her own tribe of nomadic warriors. Add to this the fact that she is currently the owner of the only surviving dragons in the world, and Daenerys becomes a force to be reckoned with.

It looks like the Lannisters and Baratheons back at King's Landing were right to fear the exiled princess as Daenerys has only become more confident- and powerful- as the series has progressed. And with her dragons fully grown, there's every possibility that the Khaleesi will soon cross the narrow sea and attempt to reclaim her throne.

Because she has dragons. Dragons are cool.
