In this film you find out you are accursed by way of a voicemail from your future self, revealing (in a slightly cryptic manner) how you are going to die. Student Yoko receives a call from herself, the recorded message stating how it is starting to rain before breaking into a horrible scream, days later she utters that very scream as she is thrown in front of a moving train.

If the whole cursed voicemail thing wasn’t weird enough on its own, each of the curse’s victims have a red jawbreaker candy left in their mouths when they die, like a nice little present for whoever does the autopsy.

It’s a pretty impressive curse in that it is able to reach you through the phone, playing you your own death which hasn’t even happened yet. In a world of cursed monkey’s paws and haunted houses, it adds a little something different to the mix.
