6. Azazel - Fallen

Jason Voorhees Friday the 13th
Warner Bros.

In this underrated crime thriller, Detective John Hobbes witnesses the execution of the illusive killer, Edgar Reese. When locals start being murdered in a similar way as Reese's victims, the police force believe there's a copycat on the loose.

Upon investigation, Hobbes learns Reese and this new killer were possessed by a non-physical demon called Azazel who conducts murder sprees while mind-controlling humans. If Azazel's host is killed, he transfers his essence to anyone in his proximity, which has allowed him to continue to evade capture and defeat for millennia.

Despite the fact Azazel appears to be immortal, Hobbes figures out the perfect way to beat him. After luring the ancient entity to an isolated place, Hobbes encourages Azazel to take over his body. When he does, Azazel realises Hobbes has poisoned himself and will be dead within a few seconds. After Hobbes perishes, Azazel is seemingly destroyed since he has no human host to latch onto.

But in the final moments, it's unveiled that Azazel cheated death by possessing a nearby cat.

Although Azazel isn't invincible, he cannot be underestimated since he's been tormenting humanity for thousands of years without ever being bested.
