10 Most Ridiculous Halloween Horror Movies

3. Planet Terror

There's just something inherently charming about schlocky, ridiculous B-movies. What makes them good isn't the technical qualities like sound design, intricate characters, or beautiful, sweeping cinematic shots. They just need to be good fun. If audiences can take them at face value and simply have a good time for an hour and a half, the movie has done its job.

Planet Terror serves as an homage to this specific sub-genre, its influence from 1970s Grindhouse horror more than apparent. This picture is ludicrous and wildly over the top, but that's the point. It crams zombies, a machine gun leg, explosions, and just about any other action or horror element imaginable in to its runtime. You'd think it'd all be too much but it's not.

Robert Rodriguez is in fine form and this may be the crown jewel in his repertoire. Planet Terror doesn't even sacrifice an engaging story for all its bombastic shenanigans, and manages to create sympathetic characters and dense subplots for audiences who need a bit more than typical zombie action to stay engaged.

Craig Pollock hasn't written a bio just yet, but if they had... it would appear here.
