10 Most Ridiculous Horror Movie Plot Twists

3. Dead Silence (2007) - There's A Human Doll

Dolls... why did it have to be dolls.

Credit must be given where credit is due, as 2007’s Dead Silence is creepy to the nth degree. With such powerhouses at the helm like James Wan and Leigh Wannell, it’s easy to see how this film has accrued such a cult following over the years. Does that mean it’s any less ridiculous? Absolutely not.

Here’s a question for you. What would you do if you received a horrifically creepy ventriloquist doll as an anonymous gift? Burn it? Smash it to pieces? For young married couple Jamie and Lisa, getting take-out is what they settle on. Sadly, after husband Jamie comes home from collecting their food, he finds his wife murdered.

Yeah, we all saw that coming, buddy.

Jamie also finds a message with the doll about a mysterious dead ventriloquist named Mary Shaw from ‘Raven’s Fair’, Jamie’s hometown. Upon returning to Raven’s Fair, Jaime visits his estranged father, Edward, who lives with his significantly-younger wife, Ella. Jamie investigates, and with the help of a mortician, unearths Mary Shaw’s history.

She was a ventriloquist who was lynched, suspected of murdering a child who had heckled her at a show. Who was responsible for this lynching? None other than Jamie’s ancestors, and consequently, the ghost of Shaw has been trying to eradicate his family bloodline ever since.

Not twisty enough for you? It’s worth mentioning then that Jamie’s father has been dead since the beginning of the film, turned into a corpse-puppet, controlled by Ella, who is in turn possessed by the ghost of Mary Shaw. Consider us twisted.
