9. Darth Maul is Obi-Wan Kenobi's Clone
This is a great, but somewhat hushed rumor that crept up before the release of The Phantom Menace and the ensuing years that followed. Darth Maul is undeniably awesome, but the problem with him (or episode I in general) is that for as cool as he looks with his red and black skin, yellow eyes, and a crown of horns, the guy has almost no lines at all. Following that disappointment like salt rubbed in the wound is the fact that he is killed off in an instant granting him perhaps a whopping total that amounts to less than five minutes of actual screen time. This left the awesome villain void to be patched together in Attack of the Clones by several other characters (and everyone knows how that turned out). The misuse of Maul in the movie has left it up to the expanded universe to do him justice. Along with stories that he actually survives getting cut in half, somewhere along the way it was rumored that he was Obi-Wan Kenobi's clone. Sort of a ying-yang if you will. Oh, have you also heard the one about his head being able to catch on fire? Pretty cool, right?
