10 Most Ridiculous Uses Of Product Placement In Movies

9. I, Robot- Those Are Some Nice Shoes

I Robot Will Smith I, Robot is a film from a few years back allegedly based off of an Isaac Asimov work, but follows the original material about as well as I follow the teachings of the Buddha. The film is mostly just an excuse for Will Smith to pay P.I. for a month or two, and for Alan Tudyk to be able to pay his mortgage. It earns its place here for its relentless acknowledgement of how cool Converse shoes are. Set sometime in the future, the film features a very distracting scene of Will Smith receiving a vintage pair of Converse from the year the film came out, a pair of shoes that he wears throughout the rest of the film. That would have been bad enough if the shoes stopped being important during the rest of the narrative, but there are no less than four times during the rest of the film that the shoes are brought up again in the middle of an important scene. I Robot Will Smith Edited 1 The movie even goes so far as to have Will Smith's police boss reprimand him and storm away, only to have him then stop, turn around, and say, "Hey.... Nice Shoes." It's a bit embarrassing and more than a little out-of-place in a movie that's supposed to be about the immortal debate over robot rights and consciousness debates.
