10 Most Stupid Characters In Classic Horror Movies

5. Scream - Tatum Riley

In many ways, Wes Craven's Scream was a return to classic horror tropes but done in such a way as to feel completely new and entertaining. Instead of the same old movie monster stalking young horny teens around a summer camp, the teens themselves were the killers, and they worked all over town.

One of the more cliched characters in the movie is Tatum Riley, as played by Rose McGowan. She's the typical 'most popular girl in school,' who cares more about having fun than anything else. She's also the best friend to the film's protagonist, Sidney Prescott.

Her idiocy plays out in a ridiculously naive way, which leads to her death. While in the garage, she tries to open the door, but when it gets stuck halfway through, she turns to see Ghostface holding the button. Assuming it's her boyfriend, she tempts him with playing a deranged killer/victim scenario.

She does realise it's not a game when her arm gets slashed, so she tries to get out by squeezing through the cat flap in the garage door. Of course, she gets stuck when Ghostface pushes the button, and as she's raised to the ceiling, she has a second to realise her body is about to be crushed, killing her in the process.
