10 Most Terrifying Horror Movie Dream Sequences

2. Suspiria (2018) - Increasing Madness And Organic Soap

This witchy classic is such a twisted and disturbing tale that it is one of the rare few that managed to survive the remake process and come out unscathed from the other side. The original Suspiria came out in 1977, a product of Italian filmmaker Dario Argento, and made a triumphant return in 2018 thanks to director Luca Guadagnino.

It follows an American ballet dancer (Susie) who takes a place in an infamous German dance academy, only to find that the school is but a front for something much more sinister. Susie begins to experience disturbing nightmares, ranging from a lady in a bathtub doing something really upsetting with a giant hook, through to someone rubbing what appears to be intestines all over themselves like it’s soap.

The 2018 version has been praised for its usage of avant-garde visuals, disorientating editing and jarring sound. All the elements of its production work to enhance these dream sequences and push them for maximum effect, leaving audiences on the edge of their seats.
