10 Most Terrifying Horror Movie Swimming Pool Scenes

6. The Rage: Carrie 2

To make it clear, The Rage: Carrie 2 is a total dud of a movie; there was absolutely zero need to put together a follow-up to Brian De Palma's iconic 1976 Carrie.

In terms of standalone horror films, few are as impactful and of such high quality as that '76 offering. Yet 23 years later, a sequel to this true classic made its way to the silver screen.

By the time all was said and done with The Rage: Carrie 2, the film's lead character of Rachel Lang (Emily Bergl) is revealed to be the younger half-sister of Carrie White. But anyone watching had figured that out way before the movie had explained this 'twist', with Rachel's telekinetic powers and mystery parentage kinda giving the game away.

What The Rage does having going for it, though, is a couple of decent kills - one of which takes place in a swimming pool.

For d*ckhead jock Mark Bing - who had mocked Rachel during a post-football game party at his mansion - he suffered a fate that is the stuff of claustrophobic nightmares. Getting his comeuppance, Mark is trapped in his own swimming pool, as Rachel uses her powers to trigger the sensors for the automatic pool cover.

That fear of 'trapped under a pool cover' would years later be fleshed out into an entire movie, with 2017's 12 Feet Deep.
