10 Most Unconvincing Action Stars Of All Time

5. Ice Cube - xXx 2: State of the Union

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8LZmVnBEWA0 The original xXx - directed by our good friend, Rob Cohen - was far from a great or even particularly good film, but it was bursting with energy, and had its fair share of enjoyable set-pieces, as well as helping to propel Vin Diesel into superstardom. The film looks even better when you compare it to this tragic sequel, titled State of the Union (or The Next Level in Europe), which features neither Diesel nor Cohen, and if you thought it couldn't get any worse, they were respectively replaced with rapper Ice Cube and...Lee Tamahori, one of the few action directors in Hollywood who is actually more consistently inept than Cohen, with the likes of Die Another Day and Next on his CV. Much like Tyler Perry, Cube is on the larger side, and so his casting doesn't really work; he looks out of breath during most of the chase scenes, and though he might look fine shooting a gun, any time he has to move he's just thoroughly unconvincing, inspiring laughter above all else. His performance was widely panned along with the rest of the film, ensuring that the franchise was stopped stone dead.
