10 Most Unconvincing CGI Characters In Movie History

5. Max Rebo Band - Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi

Star Wars Episode VI: Return Of The Jedi Picking just one awful CGI character from the Star Wars franchise is a toughie - and believe me, I nearly went with Jar Jar Binks, but he was a technical marvel for the time - yet for me, it has to be George Lucas' horrendous revision of the Max Rebo Band in the sixth and (not) final Star Wars movie. In the original Return of the Jedi, Jabba the Hutt's house band consisted of keyboardist Max Rebo, woodwind player Droopy McCool, and the lead singer Sy Snootles (pictured above). While they weren't exactly a highlight of the original cut, George Lucas proved just how much more annoying they could be in 1997's Special Edition, adding 9 new band members and recreating Snootles entirely with CGI. Lucas, again his own worst enemy, insisted that this new take added "atmosphere" to the movie, and I suppose he's right - one of crushing, head-smacking dread and banality. The physics look horrible, and shots such as the above are unfortunately now seared into our fragile minds forever more. Needless to say, this revision among others is reviled by most fans and critics.
